\"\"<\/a>There is something very special about being up at dawn and seeing the sunrise. This is, in part, because most of us aren’t (or don’t want to be) up that early or, indeed, late, which in itself makes quite a difference. There is a completely different energy to seeing the sun come up after having been up all night, as opposed to simply being up before dawn. The former is a culminating moment of the previous day (and night) and there is a sense of achievement in having made it through the whole of the previous day and the night as well. The latter is the bright, fresh beginning of a new day, full of potential and everything yet to come. I’ll admit to having been through both sets of circumstances ;D<\/p>\n

As this is a Tarot Blog Hop, it would be rude not to select a card for the occasion of the Solstice and I chose for you a deck that is full of energy and fire, where the sun features in many of the cards: Emily Carding’s Tarot of the Sidhe<\/a>. My initial instinct was to reach for The Sun card, after all, what could be more appropriate, particularly since it is the card which adorns the cover of the box for the deck. However, as I flipped through the whole deck I decided instead the chose The Fool.<\/p>\n

You will understand why I chose this card not only by the image, but also from this excerpt from the accompanying booklet:<\/p>\n

I come from the East, from between the rays of the rising sun, and with my hair flying free like the fire that burns in my head, I take the sacred leap that marks the beginning of a great journey.<\/em><\/p>\n

Is that how to welcome the sun, or what?<\/p>\n

The Fool is full of the spirit of adventure and eagerness to set out on the path without fear of what may lay ahead, however great the journey. He welcomes the new beginning, the start of his great journey and is ready to make the most of \u00a0it. Of course, as you know, every journey begins with a single step, every year with a day and every day with a moment. This day begins with a special moment, as the sun rises to light our day for its longest period of the year.<\/p>\n

So, with your hair flying free and fire in your head*, embrace the dawn of a new day and go do something amazing with it – you have more daylight to get it done today** \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

*(for which I can recommend Ibuprofen if it is the alcohol-induced kind, or a fire extinguisher if it is the Arthur Brown<\/a> kind)<\/p>\n
