I lost track of where I was in the pattern and had somehow ended up with a stitch short one one sock, so when I volunteered to knit <a href=\"http:\/\/hestiaslarder.blogspot.co.uk\/2012\/09\/hestia-and-great-sock-disaster-of-2012.html\">Hestia a pair of new bed socks to replace those tragically murdered by Tartarus<\/a>, I \u00a0decided it was easier to just frog it all back and start from scratch rather than trying to work out what was going on. I quite enjoyed making them and found myself at a loss as to what to do next when they were finished. (I haven&#8217;t sent them off yet, so no spoiler pics yet, I&#8217;m afraid. They will be in the post tomorrow, promise \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>A couple of weeks ago, however, my friend <a href=\"http:\/\/kismetscompanion.blogspot.co.uk\">Viv<\/a>, who is a far more diligent knitter than I, sent me a pattern for a beret and, since it was rather pretty, I thought I&#8217;d give it a whirl and make one for my daughter. At the grand old age of 9, she&#8217;s rather outgrown the pink phase and is rather keen on blue, so I made her this for Christmas:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/aniam.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/DD-blue-hat-2.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2162 aligncenter\" style=\"margin-top: 5px; margin-bottom: 5px;\" title=\"DD blue hat 2\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/aniam.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/DD-blue-hat-2-e1353270480539.jpg?resize=188%2C169\" alt=\"\" width=\"188\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>She hasn&#8217;t seen it yet, though I did make her try it on with her eyes closed ;D It seemed a little mean to make her wait until Christmas, especially with cold weather.
