Last week saw the demise of the old Hoover. I suppose I should give it its due and recognise the faithful service of something in the order of 15 years, but of late the bags had developed an annoying tendency to explode and the brush head kept falling off, so I can’t honestly say I shed any tears.<\/p>\n
Technically, it does actually still run – only the hose handle is broken – but given its age, the likelihood of finding a spare before the inevitable dust bunny population explosion seemed fairly remote.<\/p>\n

I must admit that I was actually quite pleased by the possibility of finally acquiring the long coveted Dyson. However, it was not to be. Innovative design masterpiece or no, I simply couldn’t justify spending nearly \u00a3300 on a domestic appliance for a chore that I regard as a necessary evil with the same appeal as a rabies vaccination.<\/p>\n
So I now have a\u00a0 much more affordable Vax (Power 2 Pet). It isn’t as funky and although it boasts more watts, I suspect it probably isn’t as powerful as the Dyson (you have to be getting something special for over 3 times the price, right?) but it seems to do the job effectively enough and the dust bunnies have been given no quarter.
