Clickety Sticks

My enthusiasms tend to wax and wane like the moon (yes, OK, so I’m a looney πŸ˜‰ and after stalling on DH’s Kilt Hose earlier this year, my knitting muse left me in disgust. I lost track of where I was in the pattern and had somehow ended up with a stitch short one one sock, so when I volunteered to knit Hestia a pair of new bed socks to replace those tragically murdered by Tartarus, I Β decided it was easier to just frog it all back and start from scratch rather than trying to work out what was going on. I quite enjoyed making them and found myself at a loss as to what to do next when they were finished. (I haven’t sent them off yet, so no spoiler pics yet, I’m afraid. They will be in the post tomorrow, promise πŸ™‚

A couple of weeks ago, however, my friend Viv, who is a far more diligent knitter than I, sent me a pattern for a beret and, since it was rather pretty, I thought I’d give it a whirl and make one for my daughter. At the grand old age of 9, she’s rather outgrown the pink phase and is rather keen on blue, so I made her this for Christmas:

Β

She hasn’t seen it yet, though I did make her try it on with her eyes closed ;D It seemed a little mean to make her wait until Christmas, especially with cold weather. Yes, of course she has other hats, but my knitting muse had returned and I slammed the door shut and locked it, so I made another to go with the neck warmer I made her a couple of years ago:

You can see that the pattern matches rather well and that she’s wearing the ensemble (and I had to let her open her eyes or she’d have lost her way to school πŸ˜‰

So with the muse trapped, I thought I’d better make a neck warmer to go with the blue hat, but I’ve already made the above design twice, so I made one of these for variety:

So that’s one Christmas pressie sorted. Here’s hoping she doesn’t decide to read this blog πŸ˜€

  1. Those are absolutely lovely, I really like the colors you’ve chosen πŸ™‚

    • Thanks. I forgot to mention – the yarn in both cases is King Cole Mirage DK and came from my embarrassingly large stash πŸ™‚

  2. Where did my comment go?! Am I one of the 51 spam comments blocked?! πŸ˜€

These look gorgeous – love the idea of the little neck-warmer! She’ll look pukka festive in all that!
