Jollies
If you’re wondering why I’ve been a bit quiet lately, it’s because I’ve been on my jollidays! I like my holidays to be exhausting* and this one has been no exception. I’ve never seen the point of going somewhere just to sit around on your arse doing nothing – I could more easily, comfortably and cheaply do that by staying at home – so we’ve had an action-packed week in lovely Cornwall 😀
*well, not really exhausting, but active enough to make the trip worthwhile
I won’t bore you with a blow by blow account, so here are just some of the highlights (with pics, naturally). It’s taken some time to sort through the pics because I took a couple of thousand. (No, I’m not exaggerating).
Day 1 – Travel, an impressive erection, a big up-and-downy bound, strained calves, a small train and superlative fish and chips (cooked in beef dripping) at our gorgeous Cornish cottage.

an impressive erection
Day 2 – large trains, a Victorian Gothic cathedral, pasties and ice cream by the sea.

Truro
Day 3 – Castle ruins, giants, a jungle, greenhouses, exotic chickens and purple ducks.

The Knights of Restormel (and their dog king)

It’s a jungle out there!
Day 4 – Dawn sunshine followed by fog, yarn-bombing in Eden, Dionysian shenanigans and a superb 3-course meal in a local pub, including local smoked prawns and mackerel.
Day 5 – a 6 mile hike from and back to a pub, a secluded beach, brilliant and well-deserved chips, an afternoon nap.
Day 6 – Poldarkian tin mines in the fog wearing a tricorn, a theatre cut into the cliff and messing about on the beach.
Day 7 – Horse riding (both living and iron), savage donkeys, a moustachioed horse, another visit to the beach, more pasties and ice-cream by the sea.
Day 8 – Heading home via wild woodland and waterfalls.
Great photos Ania 🙂
Thanks, Spike. I’m really enjoying taking up photography seriously again. These are just the holiday snaps – watch this space for the first cards in my photographic Tarot deck project 😀
Definitely looking forward to the Tarot deck project.
Now, I do like to go somewhere else and do nothing – if I’m at home, I keep seeing all those things that I ought to fix/do and feel compelled to do them 🙂
I have limitless capacity for ignoring what needs to be done. If you saw my house, you’d know this 😀
