Advent Calendar Day 7

advent7It’s Sunday and I sense a certain ennui amongst the blog reading community. Sunday also being the time for family and relaxation, I considered skipping today’s post, but decided instead just to keep it short and not too challenging 🙂

Thus, I have chosen the Rabbit Tarot for today’s offering: cute, fluffy and not in the least bit demanding, perfect for a languid Sunday. I have both the first edition, with the thick black border, and the second and I’ve chosen the latter.

Advent Calendar Day 6

advent6The weekend has arrived and we are on Day 6 of my Tarot Advent Calendar Challenge, and it is a challenge because I am something of a sporadic blogger, only posting when the mood takes me (or I manage to finish the post while it is still even remotely relevant).

Today is also St Nicholas’ Day. St who? I hear the non-Europeans among you cry. St Nicholas, the bloke with the big white beard dressed like a bishop, the model for Santa Claus due to his gift-bringing activities.

Advent Calendar Day 5

advent5Goodness, Day 5 already!

Yesterday’s sunshine was most definitely metaphorical. In the few appointments that DD did manage  to obtain for Parents’ Evening (I am somewhat less than impressed with the booking system), her teachers were full of glowing praise. *Beams with maternal pride*

Advent Calendar Day 4

advent4Yep, I’m still here. You didn’t think I’d run out of steam by Day 4, did you? 🙂

I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s post and are planning to try out the Tarot card game. I’d love to hear how you got on.

Today is so dark, dank and dismal I’d rather wish I’d stayed in bed. I’m looking at the advent picture of those deer frolicking under the stars with a degree of envy – their night would appear to be somewhat brighter that my day!

Advent Calendar Day 3

Day 3 of my Tarot Advent Calendar has arrived and I haven’t fallen by the wayside yet 😀

Yesterday did turn out to be somewhat about food after all. After I’d finished my post, DD insisted we made some gingerbread men…well, families really,  with the nested cutters I picked up at the weekend (men, women, children, babies and dog*). And very good they were too. The remainder (quite a few were consumed) are pending decoration, though DD has assigned herself to the probability that they will get eaten faster than she can decorate them (mostly by her, it must be said :D)

Advent Calendar Day 2

Advent2

OK, OK, I admit it, there was no Advent Calendar Day 1. Put it down to a lack of planning…well, put it down to the idea only just having occurred to me, just this minute, now…on Day 2 🙂

My cunning plan is to randomly select one of the many decks in my collection (and I have considerably more than 25 so plenty of choice) and select an equally random card from said deck as my Advent Card of the Day. Now to make things interesting, I won’t just be trotting out a dull old deeply insightful interpretation of the card, I will be attempting to equate the card to a gift or some other Christmasy thingy. If I’m totally stumped, the interpretation will be “chocolate”. You are, of course, welcome to offer your own interpretations 😀

Success and Failure

Nano2014

DD’s a Winner!

I have to take off my hat to DD, I really didn’t think she was going to do it. Just shy of 19k words, a target of 24k and 1 day left. I thought she’d get half way there and I’d be just as proud of her having done over 20k, but no, she plugged away (with plenty of additional prodding from me) and produced over 5k words in one day! That’s OVER FIVE THOUSAND WORDS IN ONE DAY! (It needed writing out in full and in bold). I am seriously, but seriously impressed!

Panic and Mayhem

crash-positionsWell, it’s Black Friday and the masses are both seething and rampaging if the news is to be believed, with reports of punch-ups over TVs reminiscent of the kind of thing that used to happen in the January sales, or that bit in Airplane! where the passengers are told to assume crash positions and chaos ensues (see pic). My particular corner of the world seems to have largely avoided bothering with any of it and when I nipped out to collect something earlier, the high street was quiet with no evidence of this lunacy.

Balls and Glory

Yesterday, I spent a lovely, albeit very tiring day at Witchfest. It is the 11th year I’ve attended this event to do Tarot readings and I always leave feeling both energised and exhausted. This year, there were some lovely things on offer in the market hall and I was really taken by these “Orbs”. So much so, that once I’d picked them up, I found it quite difficult to put them down again, consequently, they came home with me:

Dangerous Owners

DexGreetings, fellow canines and your humans!

It’s been a while since I put claw to keyboard, but I’m not a happy doggie today and felt I should share the reason for my lack of gruntle and get your advice. Once again, I was attacked by a psychotic collie. This will be the fourth time the this dog has attacked me now and it really isn’t fair. I’m a good boy. I mind my own business, do as I’m told (because I love my humans and it makes them happy) and I have never done anything to provoke this kind of behaviour 🙁
